Information Technology Association of Bhutan

Established in 2024, the IT Association of Bhutan is a non-profit organization of IT firms in Bhutan that aims to support the growth and development of the IT sector of Bhutan through various means, and foster innovation, collaboration and excellence in the IT industry. By providing a robust platform for networking, knowledge exchange and professional growth, we aim to foster an environment where the IT sector can flourish and contribute significantly to the nation’s socio-economic progress.

Networking Opportunities

Organizing events, seminars, and conferences to facilitate networking among IT professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, thereby promoting collaboration and the exchange of innovative ideas with Government support.​

Objective
  • Make the IT (and related) industry vibrant and innovative to keep at pace with the global trends while supporting the government in fulfilling its vision and contributing meaningfully to the GDP.
  • Provide support to the IT (and related) industry and represent as a common voice.
  • Create skillful and gainful employment opportunities with trained and certified workforce in relevant fields.
  • Form consortium to engage in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to execute (large scale) projects.
  • Ensure collaboration and healthy competition with equal and fair opportunities for all players.
Purpose
  • Provide an association to support the government in achieving its national vision for the development and growth of the IT (and related) industry in Bhutan.
  • Provide in unity to help address issues and chart conducive government policies in the interest of a nation and industries.
  • Partake with the government to present at the national, regional and international levels for the development and promotion of the IT (and related) industry of Bhutan.
Functions
  •  Actively engage in the crafting of national goals in the IT (and related) industry. 
  • Help formulate specific policy/regulatory issues affecting the relevant industries. 
  • Ensure quality standards of products and services offered by members.
  • Collaborate with relevant partners and agencies both within and outside the country for development, growth and promotion of relevant industries. 
  • Promote awareness amongst industry players on the national developmental goals, plans and programs.
Scope
  • Develop and grow the IT (and related) industry and their beneficiaries. 
  • Engage in the formulation of policies and enactment and amendment rules, regulations, policies and acts related to the industries. 
  • Work towards building Bhutan as the ICT hub by encouraging and inviting FDI and thus make contributions to the socio-economic development of the country. 
  • Build and promote business and academic relationships/linkages with partners, government and academic institutions – both within and outside.
  • Represent association’s interest in the national, regional and international levels. 
  • Settle all disputes between members and those between members outside.
